|There are two great ways to grow
in your faith and develop a deeper
understanding of Catholic Teaching.
You have a choice to take classes on-site at a
Basic Catholic Formation Center in either
English or Spanish or go online and take classes
through the STEP program which offered in
English or Camino which is offered in
Spanish by the University of Notre Dame.

The Basic Catholic Formation Centers provide on-site instruction regarding the four pillars of the Catholic faith. Each class session is offered in both English and Spanish.

For Those Wishing to Earn a Basic Certificate:
|Once you have completed either the
Basic Catholic Formation Courses or
the STEP Online course you will become
eligible to earn either the Basic Minister
Certificate or the Basic Catechist Certificate. If you took the STEP Online course, you are still required to take the live class session: Nature of Catechesis and Ministerial Formation

WHAT IS IT?
The BASIC CERTIFCATION consists of a comprehensive program from the Diocese of Sacramento for all catechists, Catholic school teachers and lay ministers who would like to obtain a basic level of formation to prepare themselves for their ministry. All catechists from the Diocese of Sacramento are required to obtain their Basic Certification. The program is also open to all the faithful who would like to learn more about their Catholic faith.
